The main mass-produced MS of the Mars Independent Zeon Army, the AMX-011 “Zaku III” was developed as the legitimate successor to the MS-06 “Zaku II,” which is synonymous with the former Zeon Principality Army. This machine is its land battle version, eliminating equipment for space use that is unnecessary under Mars gravity. Production was carried out at the Mars Plant. Originally, Zaku III was a machine with the concept of being able to respond to different missions by changing its equipment, so it was easy to change its specifications to suit the environment in which it was used. It also features a silhouette that is closer to that of the former MS-06 Zaku in order to instill and even uplift a sense of Zeon in new recruits who have not experienced actual combat.
It is interesting to note that the main mass-produced RMS-106 “Hizack” MS used by the rival ReZeon is the Earth Federation Forces' successor to the MS-06, which shares the same ancestor, symbolizing the respective military and ideological backgrounds of the two organizations.
A heavy ground combat MS for skilled soldiers of the Mars Independent Zeon Army, this is the Mars land battle version of the AMX-009 Dreissen, and like the Zaku III, it eliminates space equipment and specializes in ground combat. Instead of thrusters on both shoulders, it is equipped with large boosters for traveling. The hover propulsion units on the left and right sides of its back are equipment shared with the Zaku III. The relationship between this machine and the Dreissen is similar to that between the MS-09 Dom and the MS-09R Rick Dom of the past; from a different perspective, it could be said that the Dreissen is a general-purpose form with space equipment added to this machine. In the Zeon Mars, which advocates the legitimate Zeon lineage, it is called the “Dom III (Drei)” as a machine that is part of the lineage of Dom-type MSs following the Rick Dom II (Zwei). The pilots who flew it preferred to use large firearms that enabled combat operations similar to those of the old Dom, which they had once loved. After going underground, all Chester fleet MS were repainted in desert colors for camouflage effect in guerrilla warfare on land.
